Not allowing minimum weight for shipping method

I separate my shipping methods because of package restrictions so when a customer is proceeding to checkout they have 4 shipping methods available as I can't set a minimum weight for each method. It defaults back to 0.
Can someone help me?

    There is no minimum weight settable, just max sizes... I have a suggestion in here to add min. weight and size - if you concur, please upvote it! :-) On my screen, customers get like 12 options, it's like slow death... :-(

    If you go on the announcements page on March 2016 a post says "Shipping methods can now have their bands start from greater than zero, so you can effectively set a minimum weight of the shipping method."
    but that doesnt seem to work
