Why are wishlists public?

I can understand if I wanted to share my lishlist with someone, but why else are they public? Do people ever randomly send other people parts?

  • Huh, I never thought about this!

One use case I can think of would be if there was a forum chat somewhere (here, Reddit, etc.) about parts to modify an existing set or to create a freely-shared MOC. They can then point to that public wishlist.

I would also think (though we sellers have NO access to this, please note) that is can lead to some useful and interesting metrics. :-)
  • Not all are public, there is a setting to make each one public if you want. As said good for MOC sharing or mini-builds from sets.
