BrickOwl does not have a convenient way to enter costs when parting out a set.
The cost needs to be entered manually for each item.
Please provide a feature whereby costs are automatically entered by
BrickOwl when the part-out page is first submitted for approval. Let's say
you want to part out ten Mandalorian Speeder sets.
The way this would work is as follows:
1. On the page where set part outs begin, add a box for the seller to input his total cost for all sets being parted out.
2. Part out like you normally would withOUT entering any costs and then click submit.
3. This will pull up the next page for you to verify the items before uploading.
So, for example, let's say that the TOTAL part-out value shown
on this page is $450.00. BrickOwl can automatically divide the seller's
total cost ($260.00) by this total part-out value ($450.00) to automatically
determine that the cost per item is 0.578 times the listed price for each item.
Thus, for example, let's say you listed the Darth Maul minifigure in this set for sale at $10.00. BrickOwl would automatically enter the cost as $5.78 or 0.578 times the listed price of $10.00.
Upload the items and, voila, your costs are automatically entered.
One additional tweak for those who consolidate lots. Using my example above,
let's say that prior to this part out you already have of those 10 Darth Maul minifigures
listed in your shop for $11.00 each and a cost of $6.00 each. Under this suggestion, costs can
also be consolidated and automatically calculated by BrickOwl as follows:
1. Calculate the total cost for the current listing (10 x 6.00 = 60.00)
2. Calculate the total cost for the new listing (10 x 5.78 = 57.80)
3. Add 1 and 2 and divide by the total number of items in the listing (117.80
divided by 20 figures equals a cost of $5.89 per figure). Although this slightly
reduces the total cost amount for the part out, that reduction is added to your
previous costs to make your total inventory cost balance out.
