Propose Ability to Provide MULTIPLE Quote Options
While we could cap this at something reasonable, say three options, propose that when sellers provide a quote, the fields we can populate include:
Option 1: {Shipping Method Name} {Approx Delivery Time} {Estimate $$}
Option 2: {Shipping Method Name} {Approx Delivery Time} {Estimate $$}
Option 3: {Shipping Method Name} {Approx Delivery Time} {Estimate $$}
The customer then receives the quote.
If only one option is provided, that is all they see, and system defaults to that to place the order.
If more than one option is provided, customer must CLICK WHICH ONE they wish to use to place the order.
At customer checkout:
{Shipping Method Name} chosen or defaulted than populates the standard Shipping Method Title field.
{Approx Delivery Time} goes nowhere OR concatenates with the Shipping Method Title field.
{Estimate $$} populates the shipping cost field.
I think this can address many scenarios, where people are requesting quotes on items larger than predefined size/weight in our shipping bands, or wish a special quote such as media mail, etc. But it also allows us as sellers to provide multiple options, such as the use case I read in another post where a seller wanted to quote air vs. traveling by boat across the ocean. :-)
