Are these genuine? I have come across these pieces as per photograph. The little two by one plate is genuine Lego the 4 x 2 brick on the left to the one with the small plate on his genuine Lego. Would like to hear your comments on the rest in the photo. Many thanks Neil

All of these are genuine Lego bricks. I've yet to see a brick with LEGO logo that's a fake.

@Pikka thank you for your information. The ones that I feel are not genuine are all twisted and warped and don’t sit flat. That is one of the reasons why I asked. Your comments are much appreciated.

@Neiljones old type cellulose acetate bricks are notorious for warping. They also feel different, the plastic feels sort of waxy compared to the current ABS bricks, so not surprised they seem fake.

"LEGO switched from cellulose acetate (CA) plastic to ABS plastic in 1963. They continued to distribute CA pieces in sets until their existing supply was exhausted, so during the transition beginning in 1963 both types of pieces were sold in sets. In North America, LEGO pieces were manufactured beginning in 1961 under license by Samsonite, which continued to distribute CA pieces mixed in sets until about 1970."

Thank you both for your information. Is there a market for these pieces, I can’t believe they are older than I am and they look like they were made yesterday.

There are separate entries for some older pieces (2x4 bricks being one example; modern ones have the design number 3001 and have cross supports underneath, but older ones have neither of these features and are described as 'without cross supports'), and if you want to be accurate you should try to list under these. I would mention in the public notes that they are CA and not ABS, and that they may be warped.

The market may be limited for these older pieces, especially if they are CA as they don't clutch as well as ABS bricks, but it's always worth listing as you never know what people are after.
