That is a GREAT question. I just finished deleting all mine a couple days ago.
Only way I know is sorting by quantity and deleting one at a time. I think this bogs down the system too. At first, they delete fast, then it gets a little slower, and slower, until it takes 10seconds per item to delete. I have to step away from the computer for a bit to let it "catch-up" so it is faster to delete again.
Maybe Lawrence can fix this and make this easier for us?
Yeah, I have over 4000 0 quantity lots and it is becoming increasingly difficult to wade through them. I am currently doing the same thing as budgetkids and u noticed it was getting slower. Obviously going to take a while. :-) James
I stopped doing so … I also noticed it was getting slower after a while. Just refreshing the browser (or doing a new search query) solves this issue, must be javascript related.
But keep in mind that with admin adding history information to your lots there is no real reason to delete them anymore. What would be the reason for you guys to delete those lots?
I would ask for an additional filter while browsing your inventory to be able to show/hide these zero quantity lots, but deleting them altogether from the inventory is not really needed.
I think this was discussed before, and I queried the reasoning. One reason was related to wanting the price to be "reset" to the price history when new lots are added, rather than merged. I would prefer to find solutions to the cause of wanting to delete, rather than solutions to the issue of deleting.
I would actually prefer to keep them but there is a twofold reason for me to delete. Firstly when I search through my inventory for whatever reason it would be easier to disclude the zero quantities to make it go faster and easier. Secondly, I use Brickpacker to sync my inventory between sites and last night I added about 1000 lots. When I tried to upload the BO inventory it wouldn't work. After a bit of back and forth with superbrick he said it seemed to be a problem with too many lots and it timing out. So I figured if I could get the lots down to where theywere before it should work, and if it doesn't then there is another problem. James
I do it because I was in the US Army. It was drilled into me for everything to be "square". (my wife HATES this :P ) So I like everything straightened up, neat, and tidy.
If I have 0 quantity items in my store that I will never use again, I delete them. This would cause a lot of duplicated lots in my inventory, so I clean them all up. I have not looked, but are 0 quantity items included in the "duplicate lots" filter?
If you would prefer not to make an easy way to delete the lots, I suppose a setting or checkbox to "hide" 0 quantity lots could work. So at least it seems tidy and my OCD like tendencies calm down.
I like to use the number of lots as a guide to how much variety I have in my store, ie I am selling 2000 different lots. But having the zero lots in their makes it seem like I have more variety in my store than I actually do. So if deleting them is not a good idea, then I would like to see everywhere that shows me or my customers how many lots I have to exclude 0 lots.
What about just adding a select all feature with options at the bottom? Also, an option to add more items per page. For example, I could then select say 50 items per page, sort by quantity, click select all, select an option for delete, and delete all 0 quantity items on that page.
