Information about order statuses please

We're rather new here and we haven't been able to find much information about a couple of things. At the moment the main question is how do statuses affect the ability to add to an order? Does putting the order as 'processing' stop a buyer from adding to their order?

As a simple example, we got an order from a buyer and the order was paid. We printed it and went to pick it but the buyer added a few parts and paid for them so we printed that too and went to pick it as well. While we were doing that they placed a third order for a few more parts again.

On a different platform when an order is paid the buyer has to either place a new order that meets the minimum buy or ask for a bypass password to go below the minimum. Here it would appear that once the buyer has a paid order they can add to their heart's content.

Are we missing something? We tried to find information but the 'help' section is not super extensive, is there somewhere else that we should be looking for?

Found the information, it would appear that people can add except when orders are in processed or later status.

Is there a way for me to delete a forum post that is no longer required?

In your store's Order Settings there is a section that controls order combining - whether you allow it, if you want to add a fee for it and you can set the order status when it's no longer available
