Make order URLs standard for Buyer/Seller

There are sometimes that I had to send the link to a new buyer so he can check something in the order. Like tracking URL, Tracking code, my Store Address, or whatever.

The problem is my URL to view the order is completely different to the one of the user:

https://www.brickowl.com/mystore/orders/history/3266230
https://www.brickowl.com/user/758519/orders/3266230

Could this be simplified? So that the order URL is the same, but as you are registered the system knows if you are the Seller or Buyer.

PD: Exception would be orders to yourself.

  • Good idea. Order numbers are unique so the URL could be simple?
    https://www.brickowl.com/order/1234567

Depending on your logon / account it shows or does not show if you are not the seller/buyer.
  • Can I ask, why do you need to send the buyer a URL for their own order?
  • With a standard URL, wouldn't that make some things like Personal Notes and Total Cost viewable to the buyer, too? I'm not a programmer, but I wonder if separate URLs is the best way to keep some of that information confidential for the seller?

A link to the order page is already included in the confirmation message the buyer receives after the purchase ("You can check the status of your order at any time by logging into your account"). Sure, this is a three-step process (Login > Order history > Order) and maybe could be simplified by adding a direct link to that particular order page, thus skipping the Order history page.
  • It's just easier to direct new users with a link (as they would see the message in their email) than to explain how to get there.
  • It may be easier with a URL but I'd suggest it's better to explain where to find them.
