Refund Through Strip

I issued a partial refund with Stripe before marking the order as Shipped. But when I checked the transaction on Stripe, it was captured at the full amount. So two questions, really:

Why didn't it work?
How can I issue a partial refund at this point?

I've found the refund option on Stripe. I'm just wondering if the original refund did work but will take a while to show up?

No the original refund was only in Brick Owl. Once you ship the payment gets "captured". Only after capture can you issue a refund in stripe. You are not refunding the amount twice.

So if I capture the payment first, would the Brick Owl refund work?

Yes it will, I have done both ways.

Currently Brick owl only processes automatic refunds for PayPal. When doing the refund, there are several messages reminding the user to actually refund the money separately. Later, we will adjust the capture amount so you wont need to do a separate refund on Stripe.

Don't know if this was answered before or not but... When doing a refund in Brick Owl does the customer receive the explanation I type into the Refund Note field? or is that just for me.

Thanks Lawrence. I still don't see the messages anywhere, but I'll go ahead and take care of it on the Stripe side.

Was this changed to work already? I just cancelled an order, went to Stripe, and the refund was already done.

If it has already been captured the auto refund works but not before? I had captured the payment to do a partial refund a few days ago.

Just checked if you cancel, it will void payment.
