Messages [2] ??

I have read all messages, twice, but the [2] behind my loginname and behind Messages is still showing.
When or how is this removed? Or what does it mean?

It means you have 2 messages to reply to. The count will clear when you reply or if you don't need to reply there's a checkbox for response not needed in the message.
