Catalog changes

On the other platform, they keep on changing the catalog and it really messes up my business. Especially because I need to synchronise different selling channels. It seems they are going to keep on doing it, so I will be locked in some eternal puzzle of moving things around indefinitely. Right now I am faced with a situation that I suddenly have to move more than a hundred thousand parts just to keep things aligned with their catalog.

I haven't been around on BrickOwl for a while, so I was just curious: How does that go here? What is the attitude to changing the catalog? Is it something that is done regularly, rarely, in large updates or small, with clear communication, or without?

  • I only very rarely see an email about an item that I am selling that is being deleted, for example, which normally means I listed it under the wrong item or in a color that never existed. You get an email in that case and a note on your board saying you have things pending deletion (but the system will NOT delete them until you sell them or better, move them to the correct part for listing).

The catalog has been stable here since I started in 2018 - no new part numbers, color changes, etc. with the exception of adding a two new pearl colors for some of the Bionicle feet parts. You will see a part title occasionally improve, that is all I've ever observed.

The stability is all things that are awesome, IMHO! :-)
  • Out of interest , how do I change the name of an item if it needs editing. I have looked in the edit tab but can't work this out?

I am just trying to help with the catalogue

@Bricks_nw_uk Here... obviously this is not a good example of one that needs changing, but it shows what it's currently called plus LEGO's own name.
  • @Bricks_nw_uk In the Edit there's a tab called Item Details, it's in there. You can't change it for a coloured version of a brick, but there will be a link to 'edit the normal uncoloured version' which you'll need to do.
  • I think I follow that, but the one I was proposing to change was a Dark Brown stickered tile where there was three in the set, but all had the same description. So if you were to change the base tile you would change the description for the standard 1x4 tile. Or am i missing something?

  • Yes that's right. Not sure about doing stickered bricks sorry.
  • @Bricks_nw_uk

it's in the same place as Jay & Mrs Swoop have mentioned, but a little lower down and called 'Basic Decoration Description'.
You'll need to be editing the 'normal uncolored version'.
  • I haven't seen any big changes like the other site has been doing. Most everything stays in the category it has originally been put into.
