Buyers not updating the status of the order/feedback

Any other sellers have repeated issues with buyers not updating the order as received and leaving the proper feedback? I am still new to BO, and was curious if the tendencies are good or bad? My experiences on BL have been very positive, but eBay I get feedback about 3 out of 10 transactions.

  • I would say most buyers don't mark orders as received. Don't lose any sleep over it.
  • It is totally normal to not have the buyer put feedback... but even the ones that do put feedback don't usually put it as received. Once it is shipped that's all you have to do unless the buyer has a problem with their order. If you want it to show that you have more feedback than you can also get a feedback boost from your BL store.
  • I'm sure it's been mentioned on other forum threads, but feedback here runs between 20-30% of orders, so it's pretty normal for most to go unremarked.
  • Thank you for the responses, unfortunately not what I wanted to hear haha!

It would be great if sellers could mark orders as Received as well. That option could be used in situations when it's clear the buyer received the order – even left a feedback – but forgot to mark it as Received.
  • Just to clarify, if a user leaves positive feedback for an order, it automatically marks it as received. We don’t require that customers leave feedback or mark orders as received
  • In most online stores you never mark the orders as received or leave feedback...
  • Jay37 said it all. :-)
  • Only yesterday I had a buyer, who has ordered from me 3 times over the last few months (a rarity for me) message me to say thank you and express her satisfaction for all the parts. I let her know I really appreciated her taking the time to get in touch (as it is also rare for buyers to make contact post purchase unless something is wrong) and politely asked if she would mind leaving some feedback, while also briefly describing the process to her. I don't usually chase feedback but figured I'd ask and see what happened. She left positive feedback for the most recent order and messaged back to thank me for pointing out the big 'Leave Feedback' button on the Orders page - stating she had never even noticed it before.

For the life of me I cannot understand how someone can successfully navigate the website, create an account, find the parts they want and place the order, etc, etc, and yet fail to notice a big 'Leave Feedback' button. And this is not the only customer who has said this same thing to me.

It's either a massive blind spot for people, or once they get what they want they simply are not interested, don't have the time, etc. And that's fair enough, I'm just happy to receive orders in the first place and I am now of the opinion (after much internal debate) that feedback is just a nice bonus and not worth worrying about. As long as I do all I can to avoid the negative kind then it's all good :)
  • I can leave me feedback as well.

As other mentioned, i as well ask the same question when my shop was new.

So the overall process i take is, when i send an order, and i dont hear from the buyer after some time, i guess the order went through.

No news is good news has become my philosophy :-)
  • How about an automated email a week or so after an order is marked as despatched, thanking the buyer for their custom and giving a gentle nudge to leave feedback?
  • Actually i dont care about feedback, i mean i like it, and for some i guess it is important.
But for me, i never look at feedbacks before i buy from a shop.

So in my own shop, i would rather like to know if my buyers have gotten their lego, so a mail about marking their orders as received is much more important to me.
  • It is just better to think that no news = good news.
