I can't say if there have been complaints or not, but the uniform approach seems to work pretty well over here. If you're interested, I'd recommend you place a small order in another store to see what kind of email gets sent to buyers.
The email sent by BO is quite generic... I've never had an issue with just letting the system do it's thing, but you can also recommend any changes. You can also place an order with yourself to test it out, too, it doesn't necessarily have to be another store. :-)
@Geoffuz - these are great for us buyers, just the right info and friendly. We have only had to contact sellers on two occasions in the last year: First to say the tracking number hadn’t been added prior to. Second, was actually for an additional message we received generated by their postal port, Stamp.com, where the generic message line informed us that our “BrickLink” order had been shipped—oops! 🙃
