Store temporary closing and buyers carts

At some time in the near future I have to undergo a minor surgery - chances are I can carry on uninterrupted, however there is also a chance that I may be out of action for a while…
As it's only me, myself and I it leads me to decide to close or not to close… which leads to this suggestion: -

When a store has to close temporarily, it would be a nice feature IF folks with open carts could decide what to do.

Rather than have their cart emptied, perhaps they could receive a message offering these options: -

1. Leave cart open till store re-opens
2. Complete purchase now
3. Empty cart

If no response in x ammount of time cart gets emptied regardless…

Possible?

Also could you include a space for message to buyers in check out flow? This would be used for notifications about possible shipping delays due to weather etc.

Carts are not affected by closed stores, as in, they cannot checkout, but they are not deleted or anything like that.

For things like temporarily weather delays, you may want to put a note on your homepage.

So what happens with can't check out - do they get a reason?

I don't think many folk read the store home page!

Yes, there is a banner on every page of the store saying its closed, including if they try to click checkout,
