Apply coupons automatically

Every person who orders from me gets 5% off their next order and enrolled in my loyalty program.

80% of the people who do come back to my store and place a second order never use their coupon. So far I notice this thanks to the "previous orders" counter so I do the math myself and issue a refund of the amount they are owed through PayPal.

I do not know how BO fees are calculated before or after people use a coupon, but I would be paying the fees on the original amount and not on the coupon discounted amount since I am refunding through PayPal.

PLEASE implement the use of coupons to be automatically deducted when a person goes to checkout

If I put an item in my shopping cart at a store then click "checkout" then there is no way to use a coupon. I would have to click "view cart" and on this page I would see the coupon.

Can you please change this somehow?

Automatic as an option. There may be cases where I want to use a coupon (not yours) but I'm only making a $5 order. That's a waste of a percentage off coupon. But I'll be back in a month and I'll make an $80 order. I'd prefer to use the coupon then.

I've made a note to make the coupons more obvious, possibly an extra step during the checkout where people have a choice.

Brevity slays me again. If coupons were to be automatically applied, I'd prefer it to be an option as to whether or not I choose "automatic application". I do not want a coupon automatically applied in the situation I mentioned above. It's a difference in savings of $15!

@Brick_Top I was not asking for coupons to be issued to buyers automatically, but when a buyer does have a coupon to use, for it to be automatic. I understand what @DagsBricks says about auto using, so instead, at least make the coupons visible and usable in the checkout process.
