adding a timer

Something to add to the list if I may?

First let me say how I use the "processing" and "Processed" statuses:
Processing: I open the order on my computer, print it, then click processing as I then go to pull the order.
Processed: I click this once an order has been placed into the box/envelop and a label has been printed.

It would be neat to have a timer running in the background for when a store owner/employee clicks "Processing" to "Processed" as the order status. This could help stores identify the actual time it takes to pull/package orders. Then the stores could break it down by the time it took for each order and maybe also incorporate "average processing times" with all the orders.

I would not use it right now for employees, but I could possibly see a large store with employees use the time it took per order to see how specific employees are doing on time.

Just a thought for the list,
Chris

  • Oh, another reason why it would be helpful.

You take note of your average processing time, then a store revamps their organization system to hold more parts, but also to make things more efficient. Then the store owner verifies the time portion by being able to look at average processing times. Look at individual order times too if you want to manually compare similar lot numbers of orders

    Sorry for double post.
  • However, sometimes with big orders, I'll be processing, close my computer, and keep on processing next day.
  • Currently, you can switch the status back to "payment received" maybe this could pause the timer. I would like this too because if I have to stop and take care of my kids or leave for some reason, I can change the status to pause the timer.
  • Sounds like you might be better off with a third party solution, see if there's a website already out there that handles this kind of thing. Personally I would use a kitchen timer and paper.

Currently the times of status changes are logged in the order history log at the bottom.
  • Personally I don't even use the processed as I set it to processing once I look at it and determine the order and then it goes straight to shipped as normally I do not have a delay between the Processed and Shipped status.
