Random? What is the chance?

Without (hopefully) getting into prolonged irrelevant conversation about "random" or that nothing is random.

What is the chance of getting consecutive order #'s.

2 orders received with about 3 hours between them one is 1001035 and the other is 1001036 :O

wow, maybe you should play the lottery this week? Maybe even work in your order number into the numbers you pick?

I think Lawrence has a bug in his random number generator. About 20% of our orders have been #1000xxx.

Too bad there's no bug in the lottery ball system. Wasn't there a movie about trying to rig that?

Yes, I call it "crappy random". It's good enough for the purpose though.

Can I ask why you've made it randomized in the first place? Is it just to obfuscate the # of orders placed in a given time period?

@Eccohawk I can't speak to development motives, but sequential order numbers are a lot easier to get mixed up than random numbers.
