Its all done with magnets

Thinking of listing some Black Cylindrical Magnets (73092) but notice that royal mail prohibitions says-

"Magnetized material (with a field strength of 0.418A/metre or more at a distance of 4.6 metres from the outside of the package"

Not being very scientificaly minded, how powerful are those magnets and have any sellers had experience with them?

  • They aren't even rare earth magnets, you are pretty safe 4.6 meters away from a lego train coupling..
  • "0.418A/m is 0.00525 gauss at 4.6m (15 feet). This equates to 2° of compass deflection at 4.6m from the outside of the package."

If you have a compass you can test it.
  • I've shipped some in the past and haven't heard of any catastrophic consequences at the Royal Mail. Obviously if you ship more than one together they'll probably stick together in the package. Reckon you'd be OK, but clearly I haven't been as diligent as you!
