hi guys-is there a way to get around discolouration & fading?

Depends on how much time and effort you want to put in! Apparently there are methods for whites and old light gray that involve hydrogen peroxide but these seem to require, ironically, lots of sunshine to work. Other options seem to be just biting the bullet and getting new parts.
