Orders Page - Quantity In Orders

I've recently been trying to take advantage of the "In Orders" quantity shown under the Remaining quantity on some items where the same item is shown in multiple orders but have the following issues using the feature to its maximum usefulness.

I go through the order picking the items and putting aside quantities that are shown "In Orders" into a try on my desk with the intention of using the tray to try to speed up picking the next order that they turn up in. However, I'm struggling to remember that I've put these items to one side so either I go to pick these from my main storage and have a moment of blind panic when I can't find the items in the quantities shown ( my storage definitely needs sorting so I can access parts faster - ordered some more storage today ) or I do actually remember I've already picked them. More often than not though I have the blind panic moment.

Is there any way of having a checkbox at the side of the "In Orders" quantity that you could tick if you've put them aside which would give you a prompt next to the "Ordered" quantity in the next order with that part to look for the item in my desktop parts tray.

Also I believe the "In Orders" quantity only changes when a previous order has been marked as "Shipped". Wouldn't it make more sense to show the quantity changes when the previous order has been marked as "Processed"

  • When you pick the second order that the parts are also in, you see the same comment that the parts are also in another order, isn't that a reminder that it's possible that you already picked those parts?

It shouldn't change after the processed status, als long as they are in your possession, they are in your inventory, so only after shipped they aren't in orders which you still have to something in.

Could you place the items that you picked extra in a tray that's in the vicinity of their original place? That way you see them when you need them :)
  • Hi BasKrie,

Lets say I start the day with 2 orders, the first order has 1 x 2 tan plates in it, I process both orders but whilst processing the second order, I get a third order with 1 x 2 tan plates in. The third order now shows a value "in orders" when I start to process it as its showing the quantity of plates in the first order. At this point it would be fairly easy to remember that I hadn't put those plates aside. However if these orders were order one and order 30, it gets a little harder to remember that those parts have not been put to one side.

Also lets say that I start the day with 20 orders and order 1 shows 1 x 2 tan plates in it but also a quantity "in orders" so I put aside the quantity of 1 x 2 plates thats showing "in orders". I process 19 orders marking them as processed whilst I'm completing each order, take a trip to the post box and mark these orders as shipped. I start to process order 20 which has 1 x 2 tan plates in it, there will now be no quantity showing "in orders" so therefore no prompt to look in the place that I've put the plates aside in.

So originally years ago when I first started selling on here it was as a hobby, my Inventory was fairly small and the number of orders were probably a few a week. I've had my store closed for quite a long time over the past few years as I've been doing work around the house and my normal day job, so when I opened this time with a considerably larger inventory I was actually shocked at the speed the orders were coming in ( good shocked not bad shocked ), and was looking for ways to speed up the picking process which was why I started to try to use the "in orders" quantity but unfortunately at present I think don't think I've mastered the potential of this feature for the reason I've said in the suggestion post.

Having adequate storage is probably the biggest thing thats slowing me down at the moment which is why I've had to invest in some more
