Waiting on email/can't complete order

I am still waiting on an email that will give me an estimate of the delivery service charge. It will not allow me to complete my order until I get that email. Is this normal? How long do I have to wait?

  • BrickOwl is a co-operative of sorts, with many sellers operating under one roof. So, when you request a shipping cost, this is sent to the individual seller you're trying to buy from, and from that point it depends how quickly they're able to respond. Most sellers will respond within 24 hours, some almost instantly, but some will take days. Try sending an email to the seller in question, or look to buy from another seller.
  • Stores without shipping methods (only quote) really seem to be a loss of time. My first order in such a store was 2 days ago for only a little instruction, possible to ship in simple letter (store minimum was met, store says to ship in 2-5 days). No answer. So I sent a message offering to buy more instructions which I don't need but which I could use to add missing images for the catalog. Thinking that this could be more interesting for the store, I filled the card and asked for quote - no answer. Yesterday I then tried 2 other stores which only accept quotes. So there are now 3 wanted orders open. Let's wait and see if I get at least 1 answer within acceptable time (all are small/easy orders, nothing difficult to determine shipping price).
This site is said to be buyer-friendly. But a buyer who wants to place an order needs the parts and wants them fast! No problem if seller also has other shipping methods (even expensive) which buyer can choose, but if there's only quote as option, this is much like a closed shop which might or might not open.

  • You have to remember that in most cases, sellers are just like buyers. They have other jobs, families, etc. They fall ill, they travel, they have other things to deal with.

Ideally, every seller would set up their shipping methods so that auto-checkout can be done quickly, but even once payment is made there can be a delay before your order is packed and shipped.

If you're desperate for parts try to use only those stores that allow auto-checkout and have a 1-2 day despatch promise.
